FEBRUARY 27, 2024 PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY EARLY VOTING CANVASS NOTICE:  The canvass of early votes for the City of Petersburg will take place at the Municipal Building at 24 E. Center Street, Petersburg, on Tuesday, February 27, 204 at 8:00pm.

FEBRUARY 27, 2024 PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY INFORMATION: 9 DAYS OF EARLY VOTING WILL BE OFFERED BEGINNING WITH THIS ELECTION (and for all state and federal elections). The City of Petersburg and Summerfield Township will be combined and the polling location for EARLY VOTING ONLY will be located at the City's Municipal Building, 24 E. Center Street.  Hours for early voting are:  Feb. 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, 24, 25 8:00am-4:00pm; Feb. 21 11:00am-7:00pm.  New this year...voters who were issued an absentee ballot are allowed to bring their ballot to early voting or on election day and vote that ballot in person.  A secure ballot drop box for City voters is located in front of the municipal building to return absentee ballots also.  Election Day, Feb. 27, hours are 7:00am-8:00pm. Any questions, please contact the clerk's office at 279-1210.

NEED ASSISTANCE PAYING YOUR WATER BILL?  LIHWAP (Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program) may be able to help via assistance through the American Rescue Plan.  Contact MCOP ( Monroe County Opportunity Program) at 734 241-2775, Ext. 803 for information.

NOTARY SERVICE AVAILABLE!  Complimentary Notary Service is available during normal office hours.  No appointment necessary.  Photo I.D. is required.  PLEASE DO NOT SIGN YOUR DOCUMENT UNTIL YOU APPEAR IN PERSON BEFORE THE NOTARY!

Water/Sewer Bill Payment Information:  Please be advised that City of Petersburg water/sewer customers are welcome to make additional payments on their account at any time if it would make it easier to budget for the quarterly billings.  Payments can be made in person, by mail or placed in the drop box (with your name and address).  All credit/debit cards are also accepted in person or over the phone but are subject to a 3.5% service fee. Please call the office with any questions, 279-1210.  Thank you.

CITY DUMP OPEN.  The City dump is open for YARD WASTE ONLY for City residents only.  Please note the dump is being monitored by camera.  The dump area is located behind the Sheriff Department substation at the corner of Railroad and Wood Streets.

BLIGHT- Please be aware that the Blight Ordinance will be enforced in the City of Petersburg. If you receive notice that you are in violation of the Blight Ordinance, and the situation is not remedied within 10 days, or a hearing has not been requested within 10 days (in writing), the blighting condition may be remedied by the City, and the cost assessed against the property. The full ordinance can be read by clicking HERE.  To report a blight issue, please complete the COMPLAINT FORM (click on form) and submit to the office.

Announcement: The City of Petersburg asks that you please refrain from burning leaves within the city during 11:30-3:00 on school days especially if you live near the school.  The smoke has become a problem for some of our children. We appreciate your cooperation. Thank you for keeping our children safe and happy! 

If you must burn, do not burn in the street-it damages the asphalt (City ordinance). 

5/1/20 Notice is hereby given that May 1st is the date by which owners, occupiers, and possessors of land in the City of Petersburg shall have complied with the provisions of Ordinance 2009-01 regarding the removal, destruction or cutting of the noted vegetation.
